This compact tree typically reaches a height of 15–20 feet (4–6 m) with a spread of 10–15 feet (3–4 m), making it an excellent choice for smaller gardens or urban landscapes.  

In mid-spring, clusters of fragrant, dark pink blossoms emerge from rosebud-like buds before the foliage appears, creating a striking burst of color in any setting.  

Its dark green leaves transition to a deep, rich red in autumn, adding seasonal beauty and contrast to the landscape.  

Small, ruby-red fruits (about 0.4 inches or 1 cm in diameter) appear in the fall, attracting birds but potentially creating some mess if they drop onto walkways.
