Cottonwood, Common 2g Seedling

Cottonwood trees are impressive in size, typically reaching heights between 50 and 80 feet, with some species growing even taller—over 100 feet. These majestic shade trees boast expansive branches, spreading up to 113 feet, providing excellent coverage and a striking presence in the landscape.

Cottonwood leaves are large, triangular, and edged with small serrations. They grow alternately along the branches and are attached by flat stems. These glossy, broad leaves dangle from their stems, and their flat edges and unique stem structure allow them to “clatter” when the wind blows. Even a gentle breeze can set cottonwood trees into their distinct rustling chorus.
