Medium size, sweet, juicy, freestone fruit. Earlier than Sungold. Apricots are soft and tender, both in terms of fruit and personality.
There are only a couple of varieties that are hardy, and these are more delicate than plums or tart cherries. The fruit of hardy apricots isn't quite as juicy as those of warmer climates, but still has a delicious flavor and is excellent for making preserves.
When planting multiple stone fruit trees, assume that the spread will be at least as great as the height. In other words, two trees with a mature height of 15-20 feet will need to be spaced at least 20 feet apart at planting.
